Counseling Lessons by Month

Please scroll down to see the scope and sequence of counseling classes for your students each month.  My goal is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that allows each of your children to learn skills around career, school & life.  This page will provide you with the general themes for the month, the grade level pages will give you a month by month breakdown of what curriculum will be taught and the focus of each lesson - as well as things you can do at home to reinforce what is being taught.

Kindergarten   - Stranger Safety & Safe Touch

Fifth Grade - Stranger Safety & Safe Touch

The rest of the year is going to focus on these following things:
  • Safe touch - what is safe touch, how do we determine what that is and how to respond to someone if they touch us inappropriately or makes us uncomfortable
  • Consent and saying no.  As a 25+ year self defense instructor I will teach all students a variation of self defense that teaches students how to say No, set clear boundaries, escape and tell and adult.  This is based on the NO, GO, YELL, TELL! curriculum that One With Heart teaches across portland.
  • Stranger safety - what is a stranger, how do we determine what makes someone a stranger, what to do if a stranger approaches us.
A letter will be sent home at the start of the month outlining what I will be teaching, curriculum used, and an option for parents to opt their children out.
